Adam Wilde Is Mia's Boyfriend
Adam is the lead singer and guitar player in his band "Shooting Star." In the past year the band has become more successful than ever imagined, and is expected to become even more popular in the years to come. Adam is a genuinely nice guy who cares for every one he knows. Adam has loved Mia for a long time, and they have a stereotypical relationship - but they love each other more than most people as young as they are. When Mia is hospitalized Adam is distraught, and feels the need to do anything to try and see her in the hospital. After several attempts he is finally granted permission to see her. Adam stayed beside Mia's hospital bed all night, telling her how much he loves her and how much he wants her to wake up.
I chose the song "Faith" by George Michael to represent Adam because he needs to have lots of faith in his relationship with Mia. The line "I've gotta think twice, before I give my heart away" shows that Adam believes that his relationship with Mia will last even though she is in a coma, and he really wants her to wake up so he doesn't have to move on.

The Lyrics:
Well I guess it would be nice, If I could touch your body,
I know not everybody, Has got a body like you, mmm, But I've got to think twice, Before I give my heart away, And I know all the games you play, Because I play them too, Oh but I, Need some time off from that emotion, Time to pick my heart up off the floor, Oh and when that love comes down, Without devotion, Well it takes a strong man baby, But I'm showing you the door, 'Cause I gotta have faith, I gotta have faith, 'Cause I gotta have faith, faith, 'cause I gotta have faith-a-faith-a-faith, Baby, I know you're asking me to stay, Say please, please, please don't go away, You say I'm giving you the blues, Maybe, You mean every word you say, Can't help but think of yesterday, And another who tied me down to lover boy rules, Before this river, Becomes an ocean, Before you throw my heart back on the floor, Oh oh baby I reconsider, My foolish notion,Well I need someone to hold me, But I'll wait for something more, Yes I've gotta have faith..., Mmm, I gotta have faith, 'Cause I gotta have faith, faith, faith, I gotta have faith-a-faith-a-faith, Before this river, Becomes an ocean Before you throw my heart back on the floor, Oh oh baby I reconsider My foolish notion, Well I need someone to hold me, But I'll wait for something more, Cuz I gotta have faith, Mmm I gotta have faith, Because I got to have faith-a-faith-a-faith, I gotta have faith-a-faith-a-faith |
Quote From The Book:
While Adam was by Mia's hospital bed he said, "Don't make me write a song." [Page 98] I think that this quotes explains how in love they really are. If Mia doesn't wake up Adam would feel compelled to write a song about how much he loves her, and how much he misses her. But if she would wake up he wouldn't feel the need to, because she would already know that he loves her a lot.

The Lyrics:
You cut me down a tree/ And brought it back to me/ And that's what made me see/ Where I was going wrong/ You put me on a shelf/ And kept me for yourself/ I can only blame myself/ You can only blame me/ And I could write a song
/A hundred miles long/ Well, that's where I belong /And you belong with me/ And I could write it down/ Or spread it all around/ Get lost and then get found/ Or swallowed in the sea/ You put me on a line / And hung me out to dry/And darling that's when I/ Decided to go to see you/ You cut me down to size/ And opened up my eyes /Made me realize/ What I could not see/ And I could write a book/ The one they'll say that shook/ The world, and then it took/ It took it back from me/ And I could write it down/ Or spread it all around/ Get lost and then get found /And you'll come back to me/ Not swallowed in the sea/ Ooh.../ And I could write a song/ A hundred miles long/ Well, that's where I belong /And you belong with me/ The streets you're walking on/ A thousand houses long/ Well, that's where I belong/ And you belong with me/ Oh what good is it to live/ With nothing left to give /Forget but not forgive/ Not loving all you see /Oh the streets you're walking on/A thousand houses long/ Well that's where I belong/ And you belong with me/ Not swallowed in the sea/ You belong with me/ Not swallowed in the sea/ Yeah, you belong with me/ Not swallowed in the sea |
I believe that the song "Swallowed In The Sea" by Coldplay is an example of a love song that Adam would write if Mia did not wake up. The line "I can only blame myself, you can only blame me" would make it seem like he was blaming himself for losing her.
The line "And you'll come back to me, not swallowed in the sea" could explain that Adam does believe that Mia will wake up so that he doesn't have to write a song about losing her. |
